A pivot table is a highly configureable chart that allows you to determine which categories of data are shown on the horizontal and vertical axes. To view the pivot table for your report, click the "Pivot Table" tab. You'll be presented initially with a blank grid view, which can be filled in with the data you selected when you configured your report.

For example, if you select data concerning assessments in the main chart on the Analysis page, you can see a pivot table much like the one below. This table lists different types of assessments along the left side, and different departments in your school along the top:

You can even break out how data is listed along the vertical or horizontal axis further with the "Left Breakout" and "Top Breakout" menus. This shows what the same pivot table looks like when the assessment types are broken out by specific courses:

Filters in pivot table allow you to configure your pivot table to appear exactly as you choose.

  • Sort Columns – by ascending or descending information (Note: when a "Top Breakout" or "Left Breakout" option is selected, it's not possible to sort by columns)

  • Score Display – by a numerical score or by an equivalent level (if applicable)

  • Avg. Score – by raw scores or those modified by a scale or override

  • Function – show information by average, by total, by number, by percentage, by pivot, or by percentage taken

Pivot tables are very versatile, so take time to play around with filters, data, and views. By using the "Download" button in the upper right, you can generate and save a .csv spreadsheet of your data, exactly as you've configured it, for additional manipulation in a spreadsheet program.
