Q: Is the Schoolrunner mobile app available to anyone?
A: No, the Schoolrunner mobile app is strictly for teachers who already use the Schoolrunner web application. Parents and students cannot access the Schoolrunner mobile app. The mobile app is also unavailable to teachers who do not currently use the Schoolrunner web app.
Q: How do I update student photos from the mobile app?
A: Locate the student whose photo you want to update and ensure that "Communications" or "Attendance" is selected along the bottom of the screen (so you aren't taken to the screen to log a behavior). Tap their name, and when you're brought to the student's contact page look for the small camera icon located next to the current photo.
Tap the camera icon to take a picture using your mobile device’s camera. Make sure that the subject is centered in the frame since it’s not possible to adjust or crop the photo within the mobile app. (You can, however, edit student and staff photos from the web app, on the student or staff member page. Click on the orange pencil icon at bottom right on the photo, and edit as desired. When finished editing, click on "Submit Thumbnail" and your new photo will immediately display all changes. Learn more about taking and managing student photos here.)
Q: Why don’t I see any of my sections on the menu?
A: The mobile app only displays sections for the current day. If you’re using the app on a weekend, or a weekday on which you don’t have any classes, no sections will display on the menu.
Q: Do I need to be connected to the Internet?
A: Yes, a connection to the Internet is required. Using a strong wifi signal is recommended, but it's also possible to connect via your mobile service provider.
Q: What platforms are supported?
A: The Schoolrunner app requires iOS 9.0 or later to run on iPhones, or Android 4.0 or later to run on Android phones. Windows phones and other mobile operating systems are not supported.
Q: Does the mobile app do everything the website does?
A: No, the mobile app is designed to be a quick companion to the full Schoolrunner website, and to make day-to-day tasks easier for teachers. Here is a rundown of its features.
Communication – Automatically log calls placed from within the app to store information such as duration, mood, and comments. "Star" students throughout the day to create a list of students to contact.
Class Attendance – You can take attendance using the mobile app. See class sections automatically populate on days that you have classes and view your students in list or grid form. Your class attendance percentage updates and displays automatically upon saving.
Record Behaviors – Quickly assign merits, demerits, or cash right from your mobile device. Save favorite behaviors and see your most recent additions. You can also assign behaviors to multiple students at the same time, as well as access your saved student groups from the mobile app.
